New York Times Editorial Board: Innocents at the Border

Since October, more than 47,000 unaccompanied immigrant children have been caught at the border. Children fleeing violence in their home countries including, Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador, now need humanitarian care, shelter, and legal assistance.  Many complaints come from those witnessing the chaos close-up. Civil-liberties groups have reported that children have told of having been beaten, harassed, threatened and sexually abused in detention.
