In June, the U.S. Senate passed the bipartisan “Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013” (S. 744) by a margin of 68-32. The Senate legislation modernizes our immigration system, provides a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, strengthens our economy, reunites families, gives dignity to American and immigrant workers, and begins to address the broken refugee and asylum systems. This bill also dramatically expands border security by hiring thousands of new guards and deploying new technologies to monitor the border.
Now, the U.S. House of Representatives must pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill to repair our country’s broken system and honor American and Jewish values.
Please take a moment to urge your Representative to help push for just and fair immigration reform as Congress considers how to fix our country’s broken immigration system.
Like the Senate, we now urge the House of Representatives to create a comprehensive plan that values equality, family, due process of law, civil rights and ultimately restores our national calling as an ‘Immigration Nation’.
